It is a very small restaurant, which much resembles those authentic family-run eateries in Japan. According to the lady boss, this restaurant is already 6 yrs old. I was told by fellow informants that the food here is good and cheap, however the reputaion of the notorious chef almost on par of the delicious food there. Heard from frens tt he is a true-blue japanese, though he looks more like a kopithiam uncle to me. The chef (also the boss) is the only person who cooks and serves. His wife is also there most of the time helping up with the serving and cleaning. I guess it must be pretty stressful having to cope all by themselves. Tat explains why he was so temperamental then.. keep slamming utensils and throwing things all over. However, most customers who patronised his shop are regulars so more or less they are used to it. The generous serving and the taste of the food really worth the 'venture' and one can easily locate the shop by the long queue outside the shop during peak hour. Just gotta bear with the melodrama for the thick sashimi that is worth dying for.
I din order sashimi but i tried their claypots. Luxurious spread of oyster/codfish and vegetables. No. 1 choice for those going on diet. =) come in set with freeflow ocha, appetiser, rice and dessert.
The luxurious sea urchin is unbelievably affordable!!
Soft and smooth chawanmushi with big prawns, crabstick and mushroom.
No kidding man, its a must must must try!! Haha.. can jio me to go with u if u wanna thank me. =p

Busy Day
Time : 11:22 PM
Picked up a Samsung phone on the cab. Well known as a Big Sotong myself, I understand perfectly how bad one would feel to lose his/her phone. An old lady called to claim back her phone. Happened tat she actually stay near my place, I offered to deliver the phone to her. Auntie was soo happy to get her phone back and she even gave me a Red Packet even i refused to accept it. =)
Took a quick shower before rushing down to Pu Tien Restaurant @ Kitchener Road. Had a dinner appointment with some of my colleagues and my Brazil boss CK who is now in town. This is my first visit to this restaurant. The restaurant was fully packed probably due to CNY. Food wasnt as great yet the dinner companion were fantastic. Its real hard to get everybody together as some of us are stationed overseas and hardly come back even for CNY. Real glad to see everybody is happy and healthy.
Ended the nite over some beers at Holland V Tango's. How i wish CNY holidays will nvr end. Ha!

Rhyme in Bloom
Time : 6:19 PM
Dad, mum & I decided to pay a visit to the CNY Sentosa's flower exhibition, a celebration of bloom held during CNY which is now intos its 3rd yr. The event has been so widely publicised over the TVs and radios these few days, and we decided to make a trip down.
It had been years since we last visited Sentosa. A great deal of changes had took place and this small island resort is getting more n more attention these days especially after the monorail linking Vivocity and Sentosa was launched since January this year.
A picture says a thousand word hence shall let the photos do the talking then, enjoy! -

Went to Paris Disneyland at Marne la Vallée in France with my colleague Danny.
No doubt Disneyland is always the ultimate fantasy for all kids, a cartoon moment will still cadge a smile from most grown-ups, and you can terrify yourself on a roller coaster at any age. Being an amusement park lover cun roller coaster freak, how could I possibly miss the thrill & fun!
Some pic to share. =) Can easily spot the redness due to frostbite on my nose tip and cheeks. =( however, queueing up for the games during the winter air is still hell better than exposing ur sweaty self under the big big summer sun.

Chocolate is far more reliable than men?!
Time : 12:05 AM
And dun u think its a high risk festival when the break-up rates is higher compared to usual? It could be an annoying Hallmark holiday, yet it still seizes itself upon the female psyche so that she is unable to not harbor expectations about Valentine's Day. The same old story of expectation leads to disappointment. Oh.. Not to mention how the day makes people feel when they are single, whether they want to be or not.
Nonono.. Get me wrong not. I might not find the day special doesnt mean i detest those who treat this day as the most important day of the year. No.. no.. no.. i m not anti V-day. I still find it sweet looking at couples holding-hands together, who are obviously deeply immersed in love. I just dun find it a day worth extra celebration. It will be a whole different set of story if its an official holiday thou =P. Of coz i dun mind if any of u all wanna shower some extra love on me.. haha.
'Happy V-day' to all couples n 'Happy Friendship Day' who gonna hv some great parties wif ur buddies. Also 'Happy Single Awareness Day' to those who is still searching or quit searching. Afterall its not juz a day of sweet romance but a day to rekindle the flame of love if you have lost it somewhere back then... I shall go get some Royce Chocolate for myself and some doggie treat for Zico and Oh yea.. THEY are my all-season lovers!!

Apocalypto
Time : 1:14 PM
Set aside my disappointment with Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, I personally enjoy this latest movie of his, in fact even more than the Leonardo Di Caprio vehicled Blood Diamond. The story is about an epic adventure of a young hunter-Jaguar Paw, which sets in the waning years of ancient Mayan civilization. With most events happened in the forest, which I initially thought it would be kinda boring, well surprisingly, it didn't. Turns out , it is outrageously entertaining and stunningly kinetic. (talk abt all the half-naked torsos!!) A full 139 mins of adrenaline rush.. for those who hvn watch it, WARNING AHEAD: faint heart pls beware of the bloody violence and gore(thou i find the brutal volence is needed and justified, hostory of ancient civilisation is always cruel), its definitely not a movie for the squeamish.
Despite all the criticisms of the movie's historical, cultural and scientifical inaccuracies, (as for me, i dun really care becoz everyone knows movies are fictions), one might be able to enjoy the show more by focusing on the frantic jungle chase. Its kinda inspiring watching the young hunter, Jaguar Paw running for his life; also how Seven, Jaguar's wife survive in the deep pit cave. Thou involving a few freakish act of nature, its nonetheless interesting to see how these simple, in-tune-with-the-earth native man & woman overcome their fears and exert their bravery and wisdom to the max.
The scene of the captives' gradual entry into the great and chaotic Maya City is brilliantly pictured. The plague that took away many lives, the slave market where the women are sold off and finally, the human sacrifice on the staggering central plaza, where the first thing seen is a freshly detached human head being bounced down the long steps of a towering pyramid toward a frenzied crowd below. It all tag with the central line shown at beginning of the show: "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." It is not always the conquerors from foreign lands who have caused the fall of a civilization/country. Most of the time, the civilization itself served as a precursor to its fall through its actions towards fellowmen and environment. Cant help but to ponder, are we doing justice to our planet and our fellowmen staying in the same globe? Is the rising global warming, increasing cases of disease a warning sign for US-the mighty civilised human??
The other astonishing factor is the cast. A huge bonus should be given to the casting director who tracks down all the roles from the main cast to the small fry. Notwithstanding the fantastic costumes, makeup, tatoo and hair designs, the greatest impression is made by the performers' faces, which are both superbly photogenic and exotic, yet paralyzingly bizarre and hard-to-forget.
In short, this is definitely an intense-packed movie which is ferocious and wild. Worth watching especially for those who go after action and thrill. Last but not least, i guess Mel Gibson should really spend more time behind the stage than creating headlines in front of the camera.

Body Count website
Time : 1:16 PM
Inspired by the famous Iraq Body Count site, two Rio residents - system analyst Vinicius Costa, 25, and cartoonist André Dahmer, 32, with the help of five other volunteers has started a Rio Body Count site on 1st February 2007, with intention to wake up Rio's population from its complacency and to the war zone that the town has become. More link.
As a foreigner working in Rio, I would say this site does serve its purpose as a warning alarm, both to the citizens and the government. However, the idea might be brilliant but it isnt the solution to the many problems this country is facing. With decades of inequality in income distrubution & corruption, Brazil has a long long war to fight.

Ti Ti Kua.. Ti Ti Kua.. (PeeP StiLL)
Time : 5:57 PM
I think this guy also kukudu(stupid) la. Want to see can go internet or buy a FHM magazine. Cheap n good, why do this kinda thing? Somemore kena caught red-handed, aiya... See lar.. now all the sweat and tears thru out the past six years all goes into drain.
According to the news report, the culprit set up the video to film through a hole in a pouch hanging on the staff's shower room wall. Sigh.. After so many years of study and hardwork, instead of turning into a promising young doctor, he chose to be a peeping tom. What a waste of taxpayer's money.Luckily he was caught while he was still a houseman, cant imagine how many gals/ladies would have kena his 'salt pig trotter' aka molest by this lecherer if he become a GP in the future( if only there is still a chance).
A check by The Straits Times found at least three other doctors who have been caught for outraging the modesty of women. Two of the doctors have been struck off the register - one in 1982 and the other in 1998. The moral of teh story= Never ever judge a book by its cover, never ever trust ur doctor 100%!
Peep still??!!!

Been getting emails n msgs, enquired abt the song n the singer. Mike who like the song so much even downloaded the whole album. =)
In order not to retype for every mail, i think i might as well post a 'simple and to-the point' intro. Okie okie.. without much ado, may i present Regina Spektor and the song 'Fidelity'.
I never loved nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting my heart truly
I got lost in the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind all this music
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
And suppose I never met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you kiss me so sweet and so soft
Suppose I never ever saw you
Suppose we never ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall
Just to break my fall
Just to break my fall
Break my fall
Break my fall
All my friends say that of course its gonna get better
Gonna get better
Better better better better
Better better better
I never love nobody fully
Always one foot on the ground
And by protecting by heart truly
I got lost
In the sounds
I hear in my mind
All these voices
I hear in my mind all these words
I hear in my mind
All this music
And it breaks my heart
It breaks my heart
I hear in my mind all of these voices
I hear in my mind all of these words
I hear in my mind all of this music
Breaks my
Heart
Breaks my heart

Hello Friday, Breezy Morning
Time : 8:41 AM
There are two types of ferries travel to n fro Niteroi(where I stay) & Rio(where i work): The fast one & the slow one. The fast ferries are equipped with air-conditioned while the slow ferries bring you the nature breeze.
Normally, if time allows, i will take the slow loveboats. (^_*) Not really those big ferries u seen in Grey's Anatomy (Seatle) thou, I kinda enjoy these once in a while twenty-min-ferry-trips,
1. I can avoid the hustle-bustle of early morning traffic. Trade it with the cooling morning sea breeze instead.
2. Looking out at the seawater and Rio's beautiful landscape makes me appreciate my life better.
3. Watching the seagull dip into the water for a quick shower nvr fails to put a smile on my face.
4. Observing people from all walks of life keep me entertained.
5. Finally get to shower some attention on 'Naomi'- my long neglected Ipod nano.
6. Not to forget the best tuna baguette in Rio which i can grab a bite along the way.
A sunnny Friday in Rio. How abt your day over there, my dear?

Mad Woman On Loose
Time : 8:13 AM
It supposed to be an usual Thursday and me in my extremely good mood. As u guys might hv known now, Thursday is my fruity day! Thursday is the street mkt day where i can pick up my weekly grocery supply.
Boss need to go Angra today, hence he dropped me off the road in front of our office. I alighted gracefully from the car, crossed the road carefully, and headed straight to my favourite fruit stall. There was some fresh persimmons on the rack that caught my eyes and boy must I picked some. Then there was some plums lying there, beckoning me to bring them home, so i started choosing leisurely while chit-chating wif Gergie, one of the owners of the stall. And that was the time when i started smelling some intense air. Raising my eyesights reluctantly from those juicy plums and there she was! Standing less than ten steps in front of me, a skinny tall lady waving her hands frantically with the middle fingers up, cursing and swearing with mouthful of words which i din understand at all. WORST of all, this lady had been cursing for quite a while and apparently I was the last person to notice her presence. The rest of the Brazilians understood her language but not me. And maybe becoz im the only odd one, wif yellow skins n tiny eyes, AND THAT MADE ME AN EASY TARGET!!
I was stunned for a moment and not knowing wat to do. She seemed harmless at first, but as she got more n more agitated, the lunatic woman waxed profane. To my astonishment, she picked up a box from the street and came pressing forward. It all happened in a split second, I m sure my face turned white when the mad woman came pressing forward. The next moment i regained consciousness, I was shielded by the mongers behind their stall. All of them were holding some sort of sharp objects, i.e. screwdrivers n knives in hands for precautions. One of the grandpa-looking guy handed me an apple, talking to me in a manner like an adult trying to hoax a kid. I noe he was trying his best to distract me from the mad woman, but my heart was thumping so loud that i cant hear him at all.
The mad woman did not give me up. She was still circling near the stall, cursing in anger, gritting her teeth. I was really freaked out by then. All I wanted was to get back to my office which is only 1 mins walk away, but now it seemed so farway from me. And if only you could understand, it was very much like the scene in Babel when BradPitt and his wounded wife were trapped in the bus. All i could do is to figure the situation out by guessing the word and gesture. How i wish i were tad bit more hardworking during my Portuguese lessons.
Not knowing how long it took, the mad woman seemed to simmer down. I told the guys I need to get to my office where the sturdy security guard was. The next moment i was transormed into a superstar, donned by sunglasses and hat, surrounded by three hunky bodyguards, except the fact that I was chasing not by paparazzis but a crazy female stalker!!
All and all, its a chaotic morning, added to another chapter of my Brazil's adventure.
I was well aware of the crime rates and the social problem in Brazil long b4 i came to this country, but never a time i encountered one that was close to what i have been hearing. Not before today. Besides, we always moved in a group when PP n Jim were still here, but now I m a lone ranger. That sort of increase the danger in a way. But if u were to ask me, is it really that bad staying in Brazil, after a solid ten months here, I would say it is still a country worth visiting. Despite the negative sides, Brazil true charms lies in its people: the simple, helpful, kind and passionate folks! I like wat DD said, "But Rio is Rio, however the 'feel' towards Rio might shift or change over the time and place. deep down, we probably consent, or to the least, not objecting to the notion that, hmm..., Rio is, indeed, a beautiful city. despite we might still dislike the slum and the violence and the corruption, we still like to come to conclude the beauty of Rio, against all odds."
