Perfect Pair

Date : Tuesday, May 15, 2007
Time : 7:23 AM

I hv been looking for a substitute jeans as te current pair of mine is getting too rugged and baggy. Jean shopping is a nitemare. Esp for an in-between-size like me. (LOL. Lionsault, betcha gonna say i m always the one being sandwiched again) In case u r wondering, i'm in between sizes 6 and 8(UK), sizes 25-26(Asian) and sizes 4 and 6(US). I thot this nitemare might juz end in Brazil, but reality is always cruel, i 'm again stucked in between sizes 34 and 36(Brazil). You can probably imagine my frustration when trying on two pairs of jeans during a fitting session, wondering whether to get the tight-as-skin pair or the more comfortable but slightly baggy pair. My legs are to blame, definitely, because they never increase in length, despite my hips hinting desperately for them to grow more proportionately in alignment with the hips expanding in girth.

The search for the perfect pair of jean started since the past ten years or so, when i started to realize how essential it is for one to get the perfect flattering pair. At some point of time, i thot i found the almost perfect pair, only almost. Soon i will pick on the colour, the cutting and after a while i will just settle with it while continue searchign for THE perfect pair again. Also, old jeans are dangerous, u get addicted wif the comfyness, without realizing it can seriously ruin ur finest outfit.

Searching the perfect pair is an art. An art which u could only master after many years of experience.. Searching the perfect pair is a journey which one need to go thru.. A journey which be smooth and effortless for some; yet bitter and wearying for the others. The irony, hunting for the perfect pair is somehow similar to searching the perfect soulmate of life.

You walk into a shop which seems pleasant 'nuff to make you feel comfortable, start looking for the perfect jeans for you. You select many different styles, even if you think they may not be flattering, and bring them into the dressing room at the same time so that you can compare them. You put them on in the buff, walking ard, looking into the mirror, building the connection with 'em possible candidates. Sometime u find the exact colour, but not in the right cutting; sometime the cutting seems well-suited but the prices are too steep. And finally when u find the perfect jeans with the correct colors, perfect cuts and incredibly affordable price tags, there juz dun hv the right size for you. So you are left with no choice but to move on.. move on to the next shop.. continue the steps and have your finger crossed that you are that near to THAT perfect pair made in heaven, that perfect pair which makes ur butts looks perkier, ur legs seems slimmer n longer... I always believe there is bound to be a jaw-dropping jeans for every figure. Just like everybody will eventually find the missing puzzle in their life.. u meet someone whom u hv a hitch wif, u brave urself and try on to see if there is any possibility to develop a stable relationship, there are times u thot u found the prince riding on the white horse, but you soon realize being a princess might not be the life that u r looking for. So u continue searching till u find the frog prince who might not be appealing at first sight but you two juz hit it off immediately.. Love comes in assorted forms, assorted genders but thats another story.

I m still pussyfooting ard for the perfect pair: one versatile low-rider which is suitable for dressing up and down, will not ditch me when i grow out of shape, provide me the perfect hugging-effect as always. If u had find urs, i must say u r a lucky one!! If u hvn, may i juz say: dun give up & god speed in ur hunt!

How often do u complain?

Date : Friday, April 20, 2007
Time : 7:24 AM

How often do you complain about your life, your work, your social status and your wealth? Do you rant about your monotonous routine and swear on your wearying job? Do you vent on how boring your relationships are and how wicked your superior is? How frequent or do we ever love the fact that we are alive, have a shelter over our head, have food to keep us warm and energetic, have work to keep us occupied and paid?

Pardon me for the 'Carrie-esque' questions above. The after-effect of too many dosage of Sex and the City. These questions struck me when i saw two homeless ladies on my way to office this morning.

Our car couldnt move an inch, together with the many cars in the middle of the road due to traffic jam. Despite the amount of cars and people looking, there were two black ladies changing their clothes by the roadside sooo naturally as if there wasnt any pair of eyes watching. I bet they are mother and daughter. Mother first got herself into an old, rugged T-shirt, she wasnt wearing any bra underneath. Then she helped her daughter to get change. Daughter is at her teenage years, but acted like a dim-witted child. I assured you, a nude ebony teenager's full-blossom torso exposed in front of your eyes under this situation wasnt sexy nor arousing at all. In fact, i felt an indescribable uneasiness and sadness.

After putting up an similarly torn T-shirt on the daughter, mother took out a small comb, started to brush her daughter black, curly locs just like any other mother do. Soft and gentle, with love and tender.. I believed she wanted to give her daughter the best that she could, but all she could do is to be with her. She couldnt even give her proper place to sleep nor a decent place to wash up. Heart-wrenching, and all i can feel is a twinge in my heart. Wat an irony... to think I was worrying over the issue of how to doll myself up for the wedding dinner tonite when some people dun even hv a proper clothing to wear. Shame on myself for being sucha vainpot.

There are plenty of homeless in Brazil. I ask myself wat can i do to help 'em but i dun hv an answer to my question. Give 'em food and money, that isnt a way to cure the root. All of a sudden, i feel endowed and glad for being where i am and for wat i have. Life has been good to me and i shall stop myself from ranting any further. My frens, be gladful and be contented. Wish all of u a good day ahead.

Till then , xoxo.

Romantic vs tacky?

Date : Tuesday, April 17, 2007
Time : 9:32 AM

While hunting for dinner yesterday nite, we parked the car rite in front the restaurant where a pair of couple was creating quite a scene on the passenger path.

A 40++ uncle was trying to blindfold his 30++ gf/wife. Apparently, uncle had some romantic hanky panky thot on his mind, probably got the idea from the evening soap opera. Gf/wife was kinda irritated by clumsy uncle who tried so hard to tie a white towel (who the hell in this world will use a rough towel to blindfold his gf??!! Pls lar.. use sth more delicate can..) over her eyes. One can sense her impatience and unhappiness clearly from her tone and expression esp when she almost sprained her leg trying to figure her way out..

Ha... if you only you can imagine the scenario. All of us were laughing real hard and it certainly made our day. Our bad.. our bad.. but its real hilarious man.. Successful romantics are idealists, the sentimental dreamers, the imaginative and the fanciful artist that love look like an art form with all the romantic things they do for their special someone; and the lousy one.. arggh.. tahts when rosecolored dreams turned tacky when came to glorious reality.

And only in Brazil you can see this.. Brazilians are so straightforward in expressing their passion of love, no shame or shy when come to showcasing their act of love in public. You can easily spotted a couple from far because they are either hugging like a unseparable Siamese twins or french-kissing lovingly on the street like there isnt tomorrow. This happens in anywhere, anytime: while waiting for the redlight turning green, while queueing up for the cashier, while waiting for the bus or even while driving on the streets. However, this is the first time i saw people transorming the movie tricks into real romantic stunts-blindfolding his partner for a evening surprise - on a street. Being an incurable romantic, some sympathy pts is given to uncle's courage and adventurous attitude, but i do pity his gf who was the guinea pig of his primitive try. Need some fine-tune on the settings and plottings, i muz say.

I bet u will say: All this showy stunts could only happens smoothly in the movies where the actors and actresses remain handsome and pretty 25 hrs a day. While cooking up further romantic ideas, probably we shall juz start wif sth simpler. Yes, love is an emotion but it's also an action. I guess many of us including myself have never really put love into action. Regularly ask yourself, "What am I doing to keep love alive?" Then, commit to doing something every day that will make your partner feel good. Say "thank you" a lot, send a loving e-mail, buy flowers, light some candles at dinner, plan a surprise weekend and so on.. Romantic is sth very personal, everybody has his/her own definition. Some might prefer a surprise now-n-then, some might be into adventurous outting, or some might do fine with just lazing under the star.. No matter what kind of romantics your are.. put ur feeling into the real dough. Action is a way of keeping us conscious of how blessed we are to have our partners in our lives. So y not get some spice for ur lovelife, go turn urself into a lil’ puddle of romantic comedy-loving mush today!! (^_*)

A parcel of surprise

Date : Saturday, April 14, 2007
Time : 2:07 PM

Was juz ranting on my bad health recently and deng deng deng deng i receive this speedpost parcel from SG this morning.

A box of Panadol Extra and some vitamin C supplement. No name, no addressee nor any sort of notes. Its a surprice parcel and I hv no clue of who the sender is. Regardless of which kind soul out there, if u r looking at this post, i m expressing my deepest gratitude to you. I m fine now with no more fever. I lost my voice but worry not, i m gonna find it back real soon! Thanks for the concern.

Gals are funny animals. We tend to touched by all these lil' acts which u guys might find it too dramatic or showy. For me, I m glad there is someone who care but it would be juz pure gratitude, if only the kind acts were shown by the people I love or care abt, then that is where happiness steps in.

Prob age is catching up.. or prob thats becoz of peer pressure. Everybdy ard seems getting married within the next few years, and i ve been asked when is my turn coming. Beside giving evrybody a bitter smile, i cant find other words to say.. When i was a lil' gal, i believed tat the happiest day of my life would be my wedding day, and now.. its not tat i cease believing, it just dawn upon me that to find a soulmate that i can spend the rest of my life with seems the biggest challenge i hv ever met.

Fren A: Its abt time.. just get urself out from the shelf and married off ur butt.
Fren B: Dun u tell me u hv no woo-ers or BFs. Forget abt ur criteria lists and get realistic!!
Fren C: Treasure the man in front of u! U'll nvr know, give it a shot.
Fren D: Dun think too much, just go sign the paper and u will know hows married life is.

Arrgg.. as if i m going to become an old spinster soon. I m still in my twenties.. aint it my time to focus on my career and embark on my next big thing in life? but somehow.. i can hear that lil' voice in the deepest corner of my heart, yearning for a stable and looking-bright relationship leading to a blissful marriage. But how do i tell if he is the right man for me? if I were at one time in love, what has changed that precipitated my falling out of love with that person? how do i find the spark back or izzit natural for the spark to go away and i might feel not in love anymore but Im just in a different stage of love? The main point is, if i cant sort all this out, wat right do i hv to jump into the marriage cruise and how far u think the ship can sail off?

There are so many doubts in my bombing head, and i juz cant seem to get 'em cleared. How i envious those who can be so sure of what they want/need in life and then fight hard for what they think they deserve.

Crazy Horse. Dying Horse .

Date : Friday, January 26, 2007
Time : 1:45 PM

Came like a mad horse, gone like a whirlwind. After a year of heavy loss, Singapore Crazy Horse Topless show is shutting down on 1st of Feb.

I guess wild horses can only survive in the run-freely-green, its just an suicidal act breaking into the gates of confined farm without quality turf grass. Despite much debates and attention during its debut, the very own SG Crazy Horse fails to survive in an environment lack of nutrition. The way i look at, poor marketing and advertising strategy of its management, Asian's prudishness and the comparatively high tix pricing are the main reason of its demise. The locals might go once or twice out of curiosity or lack of new activities; the paserby-tourist would rather goto Paris for the authentic show, or the neighbouring BKK where the horses are probably crazier, so where else is the potential viewer market??

With the premature death of this naughty horse that once created sucha buzz n hoohaa, will there be future players dare to explore into this piece of land? Lets sit back and watch.

Blood Diamond

Date : Friday, January 19, 2007
Time : 8:35 AM

The sun is out finally. The magic of Vitamin D sysnthesis, making me feel energetic.

Thou this post might seem outdated, but true enuff, I only managed to find time for "Blood Diamond" last nite. One of the better movie i had watched for the past months. I m not a Big Fan of Leonardo Dicaprio, but i would say he did a gd job this time round. His skillful South African accent and the way he conveyed his warped upbringing and poignant love/hate relationship with his home continent. Seems like DiCaprio is making an earnest bid to change from pretty boy to tough guy with his dual roles as the hard edged undercover cop in The Departed (Hollywood version of HK's Infernal Affairs) and the mercenary with shifting morals here in Blood Diamond. Only regrets, I personally feel that equal weight should be given to the two male characters. It will be more convincing if an effort was made to portray the situ from the perspective of Solomon Vandy (casted by Djimon Hounsou), the African Black. Hounsou is a tough actor and i think he should be given more to work with.

Another scene that left an impact is how the rebel army kidnapped the innocent kids and trained them into killing-machine. Watching the innocent kids being brainwashed to bloodshedder, seeing the skinny kids held tightly on the machine gun they could barely carried, its just too heavy to bear the gut-wrenching facts. War is cruel and ugly enuff.. even more undesirable involving children in armed combat. Today, as many as 300,000 child soldiers are engaged in military fighting in approximately 30 countries on every continent except Antarctica and Australia. In addition to Afghanistan, for example, child soldiers are serving in armies in Angola, Uganda, Pakistan, Burma, Sierra Leone, Colombia and Chechnya. Not even little girls are exempt from this conscription. Often they find themselves forced into sexual slavery or used as human minesweepers. Children are being used as soldiers; there are countries increasingly coercing children soldiers into military action, raising moral dilemmas that can be matters of life and death for the opposing troops. The consequences? These people are digging their own path to death. They are putting the future of their countries in stake.

After watching the show, I wonder how many diamonds in the market are 'conflict diamond'?
I read an article about Ernest Blom, the president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, saying that conflict diamonds are now all but 'an historical fact.' I do not know the reality, but does consumer really care? Apparently, not many people are concerned that their coveted “bling-bling” status symbol might be a 'blood diamond'. I myself being a vainpot too lookforward to Tiffany and Cartier Engagement D-Ring, but if this diamond is the cause of so many innocent lifes, i would rather forsake the carats.

So.. in order to own a stone without involving human misery, i did the following research:

How can you help to STOP BLOOD DIAMOND?

Always ask for certificate. Consumers should ask retailers the following four questions when purchasing diamonds:
1. Do you know where your diamonds come from?
2. May I see a copy of your company's policy on conflict diamonds?
3. Can you show me a written guarantee from your diamond suppliers stating that your diamonds are conflict free?
4. How can I be sure that none of your jewelry contains conflict diamonds?

As consumers, we have the power to change that by demanding details about the diamonds we buy. Demanding proof that a diamond is conflict-free sends a powerful message to the world that we will not support an industry or nation that helps fund terror groups.

Change won't happen overnight, but it will happen if we are persistent.

Weekend is comin'

Date : Friday, January 12, 2007
Time : 3:36 PM

Lalalaa.. just the thought of these two precious days will set me in a auto-springing mode even on its eve! Ha! And to top it odds, i finally got the greenlight for my homeleave on CNY! Yea.. finally found my 2nd pot of gold of 2007 at the end of rainbow. The first pot?? Mmm.. the flooding LOVE from all ppl i love!! ("v")

Yep. Weekend is the only days when I don't have to drag myself out of bed at an unearthly hour, no rushing out of the house without a proper breakfast and no struggling thru miserable tail-gating early morning traffic into the office. Yes, yes, on weekends, I can sleep as late as I wish... on weekends, I have the luxury of time of cleaning up my lil' cosy nest and making breakfasts at leisure... on weekends, I actually get to see the morning sun-rays streaming into my home giving me the wonderful wake-up pat.... can't wait for the next sunny weekend to come and embrace me!myspace codes

Wats wrong with the weather btw? News reports claim that foreign countries are having spring temperatures during this winter season. And in tropical area, the constantly humid temperatures have hit a new high while rainy days bring a new low in chill. I heard SG had been raining nonstop for the past two days. Cheer up, folks. At the end of every rainfall, there will always be a rainbow. And at the end of every thunderstorm, there will always be a clear sky. =)
Poor Skyfly is as ill as me.. Pal, lets get well soon n hv a toast the soonest!

thank YOU

Date : Wednesday, January 10, 2007
Time : 8:58 AM

Here's a dedication to Ivy.
After 9 mths since i left SG, dis gal has been the only living person who constantly send us news, pixs n emails to keep us updated of what happenened in SG's office.
This might seems a lil favor to most of u, but to me: it means a whole lot. Its the thots dat matter.
Weird n rather disappointing to think of those who nvr fail to remind you how much they missed u when they see u, but the minutes u r away, u nvr hear from them anymore. Outta sight outta mind? True it is, but I learnt who are the real frens.

Being away from ur frens n families, sometimes wat one needs is just a lil connection to those dat were once so close to u. I might not have voiced it out but now I m going to dedicate a BIGGY-BIGGY 'Thank You' to those who bother to send me smses ocassionally, ring a call to listen to all my grumblings n musings, send/fwd emails wif concerning notes, spend time to read my blog n esp to those who make the effort to mail me handwritten scribbles thru postmails. Your caring is one of those things which can never fail to put a smile on my face and a laugh in my heart.

1 Litre of Tears 1リットルの涙

Date : Friday, January 05, 2007
Time : 1:55 PM

Cozzie marathon Jap dorama slumber party with Haagen-Daz ice-cream n pigging out. Finished watching Jap Drama Series 'Ichi Rittoru no Namida' aka 1 Litre of Tears' last nite together wif Ms PP. Not a new show, prob a yr ago. I always find out the good stuff when it becomes far less accessible. But at least i find out abt it =P, thanks in no small part to wonderful INTERNET. My strong recommendation: dun ever watch it the nite b4 an important meeting/date unless u dun mind a pair of puffy eyes.

For those who hvn watched, A lil' intro of this dorama. Based on a true story, '1 Litre of Tears' is about the life story of Kitou Aya-a girl who was diagnosed with an incurable disease called 'Spinocerebellar Degeneration Disease' at a young age of 15. A disease which caused her to lose her balance, coordination and speech, and eventually bed-ridden with almost no ability to do anything. However, Aya gradually learnt to accept the cruelty of life and fought it with dignity together with the suppport of her families, frens n bfs. While struggling and fighting with her disease, she wrote her deepest thoughts in diary form till the last day she could hold a pen. Her diary “1 Litre of Tears” was published after her death, because of its inspiring and courageous message:“Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing.” So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold.

I still remember vividly how we used to stay up late in the hostel during uni days watching Jap doramas. As heart wrenching and tear-jerking as most Japanese dorama is, this dorama however kinda set me in an inspirational mood. To tell the truth, i had not been feeling this way for years. So many questions ponder in my lil' head.. Will my family bond strong enuff to deal wif sth like dis? Will I ever/ Have I already met someone like Asou-kun who will stay by my side despite all illness? Will I be determined enuff to take care of my loved ones no matter what horrible things strike on him/her? Will my friends despise on me if I ever contracted a weird disease? Will I be wise n courageous enuff to come face to face with all odds in life? I reckon I gained some insights from the drama. However, how long can I retain the courage? Or m I just soak in the emotions until maybe a week, a month later b4 I jump out of it?

I do not hv answers to all my questions.. but one thing for sure: I will keep on reminding myself not to take things for granted. I used to appreciate simple things in life but along the course I no longer luf as heartily and i no longer cry as contentedly.. Through all this year of tripping and stumbling, i wonder have i grow wiser or have i lost myself? Regrets not, I only have one life. So here I go: My resolutions of 2007 - to be a better person, to self-reflect more, to love wholeheartedly, to be more forgivings and less demanding. Another better 5 yrs?

Listen to The Rain

Date : Tuesday, January 02, 2007
Time : 3:10 PM

The sky in Rio is all misty and grey.. However cuddling in a thick jacket, listening to the rain hurtle from the heaven to the roofs and then to the pavements is relishing. The weather makes me want to mark it as a beautiful start of the year. It's certainly not beautiful for the people who have to put up with the inconvenience of crowds and traffic jams and floods, but receiving the rain just as it is - watching it cleans the fields and slosh against brick walls, feeling it chills the air and cools my feet - leaves me a renewed sense of wonder at this time of the year. I guess its Mother Nature reaching out her hand to lift our lil' chins up from the endless chores and problems, sending us a reminder to forget the unhappiness, to forgive the misdeeds and to appreciate more on what we are having.

Looking at back at the past year, what a journey of trial and error. All the things I had done, I m glad I did & I wish I did not - and I certainly hope 2007 is going to be a year where I am given a chance to make life better.

At this moment.. Listening to Joe Purdy's Wash Away, with a cup of steamy of hot-choc and some fresh-from-oven potato wedges will be totally perfect!!

Crime Paradise

Date : Thursday, December 28, 2006
Time : 5:18 PM

Rio hit by gang attack again last nite. It was reported that the series of attacks were planned from jail by the gang leaders. At least 12 police stations and police posts were attacked with automatic fire and grenades; 4 buses were burnt; and gunmen were reported to stopped the firemen from getting close to the scene. This wave of bloodshedding violence were finally put to an end this morning but the deaths and injured had casted a dark shadow to all residents and tourists who rushed to the city in preparation of the yr end firework party at Copacabana's beach cum Black Eyed Peas live concert.

Be frank, i am kinda scared after reading the news. Imagine u worked in sucha city and the tragedies occurred at your usual hangout places. On one hand, I am glad dat i wasnt any where near the scene, on the other hand I feel a deep sorrow for this city of which I hv stayed for more than 7 mths.

The mafia rampage is no longer a news to the residents in Brazil. The corruption, the poverty, the social inequality which leads to endless violence attack in the past years. All of this has become almost normal, something the people want to stop, but in front of which they feel powerless. Hence, life carries on. And in the center of the city, the culture of Rio continues: the concerts at Teatro Municipal, the sunbathing on the beaches, the endless parties and nothing can stop a soccer game in Maracana.

Brazil could really be a paradise to stay if the crime and violence aint pulling the country from its potential. This is a problem which cant be solved in years, and a worry that cant be eased by praying. I am only hoping that no more tragedy shall fall upon the innocence and helpless people before the new year come. Sad but true, until the political will can be found to tackle the root of all problem, this 'social civil war' seems set to continue.

Update: Just when i finish writing this entry and abt to pack and go home, I am told by my colleagues that another bus was set into fire in Niteroi (near the place where I stay). Haiz.. scary sia. Still hv to take ferry and go home now.

Me and my colleagues

Date : Monday, December 18, 2006
Time : 11:23 AM

DD sent me a mail abt the suicide incident in the office building. Sounds scary. Cant help but to wonder, we may have spend most of our daylight hours in the ofiice, but how much do we really know abt our colleagues? How much do we care about the people around us and wat can we actually do to them when they neeed our help?

I didn't brood on this question for long, for the answer to me was simple: go to work, and keep smiling. Do your duty, whatever it may be - and be glad that you awakened this morning in good health. Fulfill your mission in life - and delight in the wonder of it all. Remember your partner of him doing his work, caring for people around you as he/she would have do to you. Above all, spread a smile or two as you go about your day - it can lighten the load of those who suffer, your burden included!

I am lucky to have a bunch of colleagues whom i can communicate with, which some of them also become friends whom i can actually confide to. Mmm.. i really cant say i hate my job, for it has given me a chance to know all of you!!

HSA nodded for GARDASIL

Time : 9:14 AM

Was browsing thru asiaone online, great to see that HSA had finally approved Gardasil vaccine, which means gals n women in SG can now opt for this vaccine which was proven to be effective against cervical cancer.

At the moment, only females aged between 6-26 are allowed to get the vaccine. The cost inclusive of three injections and consultation is betw $600 -$700, a bit pricey but i think its rather worth it consider the fact that Cervical cancer being the world 2nd most common women-killer.

A jolly news to all females out there i presume! I have no 2nd opinion and would definitely schedule an appointment as soon as i get back to SG.

Yes, trust me fellas, being a woman sucks sometimes.
Don't get me wrong.... I love my soft skin, my hairless butt, my hairless chest, my hairless jawline, and my feminine shape. I love the fact that I get better shopping choices, and i do enjoy dolling up. I love that it's socially acceptable for me to carry a purse and wearing a dress. I love the fact that simply saying "because I'm a woman" is enough justification for having over 100 pairs of shoes.
But you know all these come at a price. Oh, what leaps of joy I would take when the day comes that a man will know what PMS is like. Or even what giving birth is like. Or knowing how scary it is being exposed to all medias and articles reminding us of how dangerous is the breast cancer/cervical cancer. It's no party! Yes, so being a woman sucks and I am soo glad that NOW we have a vaccine to protect ourselves! Gals, lets all go for GARDASIL!

It is raining... from morning till now..

Rio's weather is as unpredicatable as the highness's mood swing.

Yesterday and the day before we were still kaopeh-ing abt the burning sun, todae the whole city is flooded by the big downpour. Temperature drops rapidly from 30 C to 20 C.

Boss goes Angra todae. Hv to go back by Ferry. In fact, i do enjoy taking the ferry. Watching the people, breathing the Carioca's air, crunching the pipoca while strolling back to the apartment. However, this is all subject to the weather condition and definitely not on a rainy evening like this.

Had finished most of my assigned task, hence rather eng eng cheng cheng these days.
Did some touch-up here n there on my blog( as you can see) , and even managed to log in for more than one time within a day. =P

Was surfing the net to do some research on Lasik, accidentally came across a thread abt plastic surgery heatingly discussed in a forum. Am really surprise to find out there is actually so many SG gals bravely opt for operation to change/enhance their physical looks. Thot of Dawn Yang(Yeo) , who once created a blogging craze by making herself uber sexy thru severe PS. If one is to be the walking advertisement of PS in SG, it has to be her. I had to say i admire these gals' courage but i cant help wondering is it really worth the risk? Afterall.. we are not looking for someone who care abt our look but someone who really understand us. I guess the society plays a part as well. In a perfect world, women might be judged solely by our wits and wisdom, however, the ugly truth is: obesity is a sin, looks do count and it really matters.

Alan shared with me an encounter of his the other day. There was this gal who is a little bit at the plump side came interview for a post in his company. The only comment made by his boss was: 'Aiya.. we got to spent more on the food if we employ her.'

We live in a world where we can change nearly everything. No feeling towards your spouse? File a Divorce. Hate that job which you think you are being underpaid? Resign and Get a new one. Your big nose, fat cheeks, sagging fanny? PS does the trick. Unfortunately our desire for radical change may lead to deeper problems. PS may simply be a Band-Aid covering an insecurity that will simply find a new mask to hide behind after a so-called problem gets fixed.

I always believe in this, when you are confident, you shall look great.
Time to go home, Tciao..

Labeling

Date : Wednesday, August 09, 2006
Time : 1:47 PM

I hate labeling and i hate being labeled.
I am a human not a good.
I dont need a label on my forehead nor i need a tag to remind others who I am.
You are so and so husband or wife.. so and so daughter or son.. so and so bf or gf.. Hey.. I am who i am.. i dont belong to anyone and no one actually belongs to me.

Life is always full of labeling.
From a can of condensed milk to choosing a lifetime partner.
We all do it. We all read labels.
Admit it. We label ourselves and others all the time.
Punk or prep. Nerd or athlete. Loner or PartyQueen.
We tell ourselves that we are either dumb or cool; plain or pretty.
We put ourselves and others into categories from time to time.

I cant help but to wonder..
Are we doing the same thing when we try to label relationships?
Relationships aint neat. In fact, it turns out to be just plain messy in most cases..
There are no cleanup directions with a label, either.

Relationships get messier if someone is labeled as the "best friend" or the "boyfriend" . Expectations come in and feelings change.
Once we label someone a girlfriend or a boyfriend can we ever go back?
Or, can someone have multiple labels? (Haven't you heard about that dream guy who is both a "best friend" and "boyfriend" to his significant other? Is that even possible?)

Are we performing relationship suicide when we sum up our relationships?

Just the other day i was sharing wif a fren of how I craved for a runaway, a real, long runaway which i treat it as some sort of retreat. Through weeks of extreme scrambling at work and mood swing, i had this strong urge to crawl into a cave to hide. I knoew this happenend to me time to time. The need to seek solitude. Not that comfort from close friends didn't take effect. Its simply an absolute one-person kind of breakaway that i need to take. Being in the thick of 'me, myself and I' , it might help me to reflect the journey I had taken, the choices I had made, and the realignment that I need to take to move on.I guessed its time to take a break. (Hv a kit-kat!!)

Trout Hunting

Date : Saturday, July 15, 2006
Time : 12:12 PM

We missed the trout at Itaipava too much... hence Five warriors decided to triumph their way up to the hill again in search of the legendary trout.

The food was still nice.. the almond flakes and the fresh trout were a perfect match in heaven!

After the super duper lengthy lunch, we drove by to Araras Pousada, the one that we stayed over the weekends three weeks ago. (Remember the Sakura??!!)

With wistful hopes, we were actually looking forward to a welcoming scene of a mountain full of Sakura. Bad outsome, the whole place was still beautiful.. but not even a tint of pink. It was peacefully green.. a total green.

I cant help to feel how lucky we were the other time. We hit the rite time and rite spot without pre-planning. On the other hand, I cant help but to feel the lost.

Then I finally realized, just like the transience of life, the appeal of the sakura goes beyond their evident beauty. It lies in the fact that the flowers are only in full bloom for a few days. The real "moment" of hanami is not so much looking at the flowers on the tree but watching with a tinge of sadness as they fall from the tree, flutter in the spring breeze on their short journey to the cold earth below. It's a beautiful but melancholy reminder that all life must come to an end. Hence, we should really treasure what we have now but not to be regret over what you had lost, time is too short for us to be remorseful all the time.

Wonderful Tuesday!!

Date : Tuesday, May 09, 2006
Time : 8:52 AM

Woke up in a pretty good mood today.
Probably because of the conversation with frens and colleagues.
Somehow or rather.. one tends to learn to appreciate things when you are overseas, alone.
A great lot of minor things can actually made my day. =)
A call from mum n dad, a few words from cute guy that i fancy, a greeting from bubbly colleague, a buzz from long-time no see invisible fren and etc..
Even a hot choc in the cooling morning feels like heaven to me..

Fixed myself a simple breakfast. Tried the method from Larry.. Heat up the pan, add little extra virgin olive oil.. place the egg without the shell.. lower the heat and ya!! i got the best reults!! =D
Cool! Credits to Uncle Larry for the idiot proof tips.

Bom Dia!

Date : Wednesday, May 03, 2006
Time : 10:16 AM

Its 9pm in Singapore actually.. I am still waiting for my desktop since yesterday.
Spoke to Gaffore, an Indian guy from SG. He is the only one that made me feel better after all these days, hearing so many negative opinion about Brazil.
I guess what he said is true. I should be more independent rather than relying on somone everytime. Sometimes you can tell the sincerity in somone eyes, and in this case i felt a sense of easeness talking to him.
He took a ferry to work every morning and I am going to join him on one of his morning trip these days
